Managing Manual Trades: A Comprehensive Guide

At Orizon Analytics, tracking your investments accurately is essential for gaining deep insights into your portfolio performance. While automated brokerage syncing handles your linked accounts, our Manual Trades feature gives you full control to log, edit, close, and manage independent or simulated positions directly. This guide walks you through every step of managing manual trades within your account.

Opening and Tracking a New Trade

If you want to track a specific stock or asset manually, you can add it to your profile in just a few clicks.

  1. Navigate to the Trades Section: Locate and click Trades in the left-hand navigation panel to open your complete transaction list.

  2. Initiate Trade Tracking: Click the Track Trade button located prominently at the top right of the page to open the Open Trade modal.

  3. Input Trade Details: Complete the required fields for your asset:

    • Symbol: Enter the ticker symbol (the exchange will auto-populate).

    • Transaction Type: Select whether the position is Long or Short.

    • Open Price: Enter the execution price.

    • Quantity: Specify the number of shares or units.

    • Open Date: Select the date the trade was initiated.

  4. Confirm Tracking: Click the Open Trade button at the bottom of the modal. The position will immediately reflect across your dashboard metrics, including Total Investment and Total Open Trades.

Editing an Open Trade

Market conditions change, and mistakes happen. Instead of deleting incorrect entries, you can update them on the fly.

  1. Locate the Trade: Go to your Trades section and find the open position you wish to modify.

  2. Launch the Editor: Right-click anywhere along the trade's row and select Edit from the context menu to open the Edit Open Trade modal.

  3. Make Adjustments: Modify any necessary fields (such as price, quantity, or open date). (Note: The Open Date cannot be set to a future date).

  4. Save Changes: Click Update to finalize your modifications. Your records and dashboard metrics will update instantly.

Closing Long or Short Positions

When you are ready to exit a position, you can partially or fully close your manually tracked trades to lock in performance metrics and calculate realized gains or losses.

  1. Initiate the Close: Navigate to your Current Positions table, find the target row, and click the horizontal ellipses icon (...) on the left side. Select Close Position.

  2. Specify Lot Details: The modal will display your total available quantity and break down your individual manually entered lots (showing Open Price, Original Quantity, and Open Date).

    • Quantity to Close: Enter how many shares you are closing per lot.

    • Close Price & Date: Enter the closing execution price and date at the bottom of the modal. (Note: Close dates cannot precede open dates, and this feature exclusively manages manual lots).

  3. Review and Confirm: Click Proceed to open the Confirmation Modal. Review your details, and click Confirm to update your positions table and log the transaction in your Closed Trades history with calculated realized gains.

Deleting a Trade

If you entered a duplicate entry, want to remove a test/simulated strategy, or need to clear erroneous historical data, you can permanently delete a trade.

  1. Access Your Trade List: Open the Trades section from the left navigation panel.

  2. Select Delete: Right-click along the row of the target trade and select Delete from the context menu.

  3. Confirm Removal: A safety dialog box will appear. Click Yes, I’m sure to permanently remove the trade from your history. (Note: Deletion is permanent and will adjust any associated performance reports or calculations).
